Writing Standard 2.a - Level 8

Write in a variety of genres such as narratives, essays, stories, business letters, and research for specific purposes (for example: to analyze, to evaluate, to entertain, to inform, to persuade, or to explain).

Write in a variety of genres (types) such as narratives (stories of events that have happened to you or to others), essays, stories, business letters, and research for specific purposes (for example: to analyze or point out different parts, to judge, to entertain, to inform, to persuade, or to explain).

Instructional Strategies

Students will read a variety of short examples of the genres that they will be expected to produce.

Before writing a childrens' story, students will bring his/her favorite story to class for the purpose of creating a list of critera that set children's stories apart from other stories.

The final grade for the childrens' story project will be determined by means of a conference between student(s) and teacher.
