Oral Expression and Language Study • Apply communication skills to listen and communicate effectively in small and large groups discussions. Reading for all purposes • Apply strategies for analyzing setting, character, plot, and point of view in a variety of literary genres. Analyze the impact of word choice, and poetic or literary devices (for example: imagery, description, exaggeration, repetition, personification) on how a reader reads something. 4j Make inferences and draw conclusions based on explicit and implied information in a text. 1a Provide relevant details to support the connections or judgments made (interpretative, analytical, or reflective). 2a
• Use knowledge of Greek and Latin roots to determine meaning of words in English. Writing and Composition • Write in descriptive, narrative, expository, and persuasive modes for a variety of purposes and audiences.
