Use conventional spelling.

Students will spell words correctly using spelling rules.

• KNOW there is a correct way to spell words.
• KNOW the spelling conventions.
• KNOW how to spell a basic list of words correctly with consistency.
• KNOW how to use a dictionary to find the correct spelling of words.
• KNOW how to self-correct spelling errors, especially in a piece of writing.

ABLE TO DO

1. Student will be able to spell a list of high-frequency words.
2. Student will be able to spell these high-frequency words correctly in his or her writing.
3. Student will be able to recognize misspelled words and correct the misspellings.
4. Student will be able to use a dictionary to find the correct spelling of words.
