Writing Standard 3.d - Level 7

Use paragraphs correctly so that each paragraph is differentiated by indenting or blocking and includes one major but focused idea.

Standard in Kid Friendly Language

Students must indent the first line of a paragraph, and the paragraph must be about one topic.

Standard Unwrapped

  • KNOW that the first line of a paragraph must be indented.
  • KNOW that a paragraph must be focused on only one topic.
  • KNOW that all supporting detail must be related to the topic.

ABLE TO DO

  1. Student will be able to indent the first sentence in a paragraph.
  2. Student will be able to choose a topic, write a paragraph, and make sure all of the supporting details are related to the topic.

  • Practice writing paragraphs using "thumb" rule to indent.
  • Practice writing main idea sentences.
  • Write a short paragraph on a weekly basis.
