Identify parts of speech such as nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, interjections, and prepositions.
Standard in Kid Friendly Language
Students will be able to tell which part of speech a word is.

- KNOW that there are eight parts of speech.
- KNOW how to classify words/phrases as one of the eight parts of speech.
- KNOW how to use different parts of speech to construct sentences.
- KNOW that specific nouns, accurate pronouns, vivid verbs, appealing adjectives, diverse adverbs, strong conjunctions, exciting interjections, and out-of-the-ordinary prepositions will make writing coherent, unified, and interesting to read

- Given sentences, students will be able to identify into which part of speech each word fits.
- Students will be able to write sentences using all eight parts of speech.
- Students will identify the different types of verbs.
