Writing Standard 3.a - Level 7

Identify parts of speech such as nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, interjections, and prepositions.

Standard in Kid Friendly Language

Students will be able to tell which part of speech a word is.

Standard Unwrapped

  • KNOW that there are eight parts of speech.
  • KNOW how to classify words/phrases as one of the eight parts of speech.
  • KNOW how to use different parts of speech to construct sentences.
  • KNOW that specific nouns, accurate pronouns, vivid verbs, appealing adjectives, diverse adverbs, strong conjunctions, exciting interjections, and out-of-the-ordinary prepositions will make writing coherent, unified, and interesting to read

ABLE TO DO

  1. Students will be able to name the eight parts of speech.
  2. Students will be able to give examples of each part of speech.
  3. Given sentences, students will be able to identify into which part of speech each word fits.
  4. Students will be able to write sentences using all eight parts of speech.
  5. Students will identify the different types of verbs.
  6. Students will be able to use the parts of speech to construct sentence, paragraphs and essays that are interesting and accurate.
