Writing Standard 2.e - Level 7

Plan, draft, revise and edit for a legible final copy.

Standard in Kid Friendly Language

Students will plan, write, and make corrections and changes to their writing, so they can turn in an easy-to-read, corrected final draft.

Standard Unwrapped

  • KNOW about different graphic organizers.
  • KNOW how to write a rough draft.
  • KNOW how to self-correct their writing.
  • KNOW how to change or add to their writing to make it better.

ABLE TO DO

  1. Students will be able to choose and use an appropriate graphic organizer to plan their writing.
  2. Students will be able to write a rough draft.
  3. Students will be able to edit their rough draft for grammar/spelling/punctuation/usage errors.
  4. Students will be able to revise their rough drafts with the aim of producing a quality piece of work.
  5. Students will be able to write a neat, nearly error-free final copy.

  • Introduce and use different types of graphic organizers
  • Clarify the difference between editing and revising
  • Provide a comprehensive list of editing symbols
  • Provide ample opportunity for students to practice their writing skills.

  • Given a choice of prompts, students will be able to choose a graphic organizer, plan their writing, edit, revise, and prepare a final clean copy of a paragraph or essay.
