Writing Standard 2.c - Level 7
Organize ideas so that there is an inviting introduction, logical arrangement of ideas, and a satisfying conclusion.
Standard in Kid Friendly Language
Students will write introductions and topic sentences, put supporting details in order, and end with a concluding sentence.
Standard Unwrapped
- KNOW that a quality paragraph must have a topic sentence, two or three main ideas, two or three specific supporting details for each main idea, and a concluding sentence that restates the topic sentence using different wording.
- KNOW that quality writing needs a "hook" to get the readers' attention.
- KNOW that ideas must be in a logical order.
- KNOW that good writers bring their writing to a satisfying conclusion.
ABLE TO DO
- Student will be able to write a solid topic sentence.
- Student will be able to write a quality 8- to 11-sentence paragraph.
- Student will be able to write a strong concluding sentence.

- Introduce and practice 11-sentence paragraph format
