  • The Sentence


-complete subjects and predicates, simple subjects and predicates, verb phrases, compound sentence parts, kinds of sentences, subjects in unusual order, fragments and run-ons

  • Nouns


-singular, plural, possessive, nouns and their jobs

  • Pronouns


-subject, object, possessive, reflexive/intensive, interrogatives/demonstratives, pronouns-antecedent agreement, indefinite pronoun agreement, and pronoun problems

  • Verbs


-action, linking, principal parts, irregular, simple tenses, perfect tenses, using verb tenses, and troublesome verb pairs

  • Adjectives and Adverbs


-predicate adj., other words as adj., finding adverbs, making comparisons, adj. or adverb?, and avoiding double negatives

The last two weeks of the month will be for the research report. This is a preview of how to do a research report. This is done before 6th science starts their first research report of the year.

-Prewriting - different styles for different prompts

-agreement in number, compound subjects, phrases between subjects and verbs, indefinite pronouns as subjects, and subjects in unusual order

-people and cultures, first words and titles, places and transportation, organizations and other subjects


  • Punctuation

-periods and other end marks, commas in sent., dates, addresses, letters, punctuation quotations, semicolons and colons, hyphens, dashes, parentheses, apostrophes, and punctuating titles

-outlines-stars, dashes, dots; 1,2,3's; quick sketch method;
