Writing Essential Skills for Level 3

First Quarter

Students will be able to:

  • Write correct sentences, including: (3.c)
  • subject and a predicate, C,SF (3.b)
  • correct punctuation. C (3.d.2)
  • Write a paragraph that will include:
  • indent, C (2.e)
  • use margins, C (2.e)
  • use a topic sentence, I,O (2.b)

  • Write a friendly letter, an expository paragraph and a narrative paragraph. (2.a)

  • Respond to a literature selection. (2)

Third Quarter

Students will be able to:

  • Write narrative, descriptive, and how-to paragraphs. C,P,O (2.a)

Fourth Quarter

Students will be able to:

  • Write developed paragraphs.

Every Quarter

Students will be able to:

  • Increase their writing vocabulary:
  • identify base words, prefixes and suffixes, WC(2.c)
  • determine compound words, WC(2.c)
  • use and identify synonyms and antonyms. WC(2.c)
  • Demonstrate editing and revision skills: (3.d)
  • look for grammatical errors, C(3.b)
  • enhance sentences V, WC,SF, (2.f)
  • proofread for punctuation mistakes. C,P(3.d.2)
