Writing Essential Skills for Level 1
First Quarter
Students will be able to:
- Choose own topic. (2.a)
- Write 1-2 sentences on topic. (2.g)
- Spell some (50%) high frequency words correctly. (3.e)
- Use phonetic spelling on other words. (3.e)
- Write legibly and with spaces between words. (2.e)
Second Quarter
Students will be able to:
- Choose a variety of topics. (2.a)
- Write 3-4 sentences on topic. (2.g)
- Use capitals and periods 25% of time. (3.d.1)
- Spell most (80%) high frequency words correctly. (3.e)
- Use phonetic spelling on other words. (3.e)
Third Quarter
Students will be able to:
- Choose a variety of topics. (2.a)
- Attempt sequencing (beg/mid/end attempt). (2.b)
- Given a visual prompt, will write 5-6 complete sentences on topic. (2.g)
- Use capitals and periods 50% of time. (3.d.1) & (3.d.2)
- Spell most (80%) high frequency words correctly. (3.e)
- Use phonetic spelling on other words. (3.e)
Fourth Quarter
Students will be able to:
- Attempt sequencing (beg/mid/end). (2.b)
- Given a visual prompt, will write 7-8 complete sentences on topic. (2.g)
- Use capitals and periods 75% of time. (3.d.1) & (3.d.2)
- Spell most (80%) high frequency words correctly. (3.e)
- Applies correct spelling in daily work (3.e)
- Spells district spelling list with 100% accuracy (3.e)
