Projects and Activities

Their Own Designs
Children create their own 'designer swimwear.' Draw a model body, a girl's suit, and a boy's suit. The students traced it, colored and cut it. They then had to use inventive spelling to create a descriptive paragraph of the suit. 'My bathing suit is _____, ____, ____.' Any item could be used depending on the topics you are addressing in your classroom. You could also have the pictures already cut out to save an unnecessary step for students.
Daily Journal Writing
Students will keep a writing journal they will use daily. In the journal they will write based on the mini lesson delivered by the teacher. The topic will sometimes be chosen by the student and sometimes dictated by the teacher.
