Technology Essential Skills for Level 6
(All these skills are taught only one quarter.)
Typing
Students will be able to:
- Type 15 wpm at 93% accuracy.
- Use correct techniques.
Internet Safety
Students will be able to:
- Know acceptable use policy.
- Identify when you should or should not give out personal information.
- Use ethical behavior when using Internet resources.
- Know the dangers and benefits of the Internet.
Internet Research
Students will know the:
- Resources on the web (search engines, online encyclopedias, news databases, etc.).
- HTML extensions (.com, .org, .net, .mil, .gov, .edu, ~).
- Types of searches (operators: “”,+,-).
- Saving content from the Internet.
Server
Students will be able to:
- log in,
- correctly save work.
Students will know:
- file extensions (.doc, .ppt, .xcl, .jpg, .gif, .html, etc.),
- ethical use,
- logging out,
- how to move misplaced files.
Word Processing (Microsoft Word)
Students will know:
- tabbed indents,
- double-space,
- alignment options,
- bullets,
- Clipart/Wordart,
- printing,
- multitasking programs.
Digital Presentations (Power Point)
Students will be able to:
- make advanced slide layouts,
- view options,
- Manipulate textboxes,
- design elements,
- present animations and sounds,
- insert objects from server,
- know printing options.
Technology Devices
- Students will be able to use scanner
Troubleshooting
- What should I do if I cannot log into the server?
- How do I find and move misplaced files?
