Technology Standard 3.3 - Level 6 - Essential Skill
Publish and present information using technology tools

Instructional Strategies
Intro to PowerPoint
- Students get into a group to watch a PowerPoint demonstration (they are away from their computers so they are not distracted, rather then are at the front of the group where they can see the board closely and ask any questions that come to mind)
- Teacher demonstrates the basics of PowerPoint:
- Different view options
- Adding slides
- Changing slide layout
- Applying design templates and other background/color options
- Adding textboxes and text
- Moving slides around
- Preset animation
- Custom animation with sound/motion clips, and sound effects
- Saving a presentation
- Running a presentation
Practicing PowerPoint
- Students will create the Alexander PowerPoint in the textbook
- They will get help from the book, each other, and their teacher
- Advanced students should work on custom animation and different options
- Narration
- Automated slides
- When finished, find a partner and grade each other's presentations.

Assessment Strategies
Assessing PowerPoint
- Students will work alone with only the book for help
- Students will create the Rain Forest PowerPoint in the textbook
- When finished, they will raise their hand to have the teacher grade the PowerPoint and give them feedback on the spot.
- Advanced students may create a PowerPoint of their choice, but must complete it within the same amount of time the Rain Forest PowerPoint takes.
- Students will grade their neighbor's Alexander PowerPoint assignment with the Alexander PowerPoint checkbric
- Teacher will grade the students' Rain Forest PowerPoint assessment with the Rain Forest PowerPoint checkbric.
