Science Essential Skills for Kindergarten
First Quarter:
Student will be able to:
Students know and understand the processes and interactions of Earth’s systems and the structure and dynamics of Earth and other objects in space. Science Standard 4
- Students will be able to compare physical properties. Science Standard 4.1
- Students will be able to correctly identify the size of specified items. Science Standard 4.1
- Students will be able to correctly recognize the shape of specified items. Science Standard 4.1
- Students will be able to correctly illustrate the color of specified items. Science Standard 4.1
Students know and understand the characteristics and structure of living things, the processes of life, and how living things interact with each other and their environment. Science Standard 3
- Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention. Science Standard 3.5
- Students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors and reduce health risks. Science Standard 3.5
Second Quarter:
Student will be able to:
- Students will be able to know and understand the characteristics and structure of living things, the processes of life, and how living things interact with each other and their environment. Science Standard 3
- Students will be able to describe the basic needs of a pumpkin plant. (eg. soil, sun, water)Science Standard 3.1
- Students apply the processes of scientific investigation and design, conduct, communicate about, and evaluate such investigations. Science Standard 1
- Students will gain an understanding of their five senses through a class study of holiday traditions. Science Standard 1.1
Third Quarter:
Student will be able to:
Students know and understand the characteristics and structure of living things, the processes of life, and how living things interact with each other and their environment. Science Standard 3
- Students will construct a butterfly life cycle with pasta. Science Standard 3.4
- Students will compare and label the life cycles of a ladybug with the life cycle of a frog. Science Standard 3.4
Students know and understand the processes and interactions of Earth’s systems and the structure and dynamics of Earth and other objects in space. Science Standard 4
- Students will apply seasonally appropriate clothing to a classroom model. Science Standard 4.3
- Students will illustrate their favorite season. Science Standard 4.3
- Students will distinguish that a large portion of the Earth's surface is covered with water. Science Standard 4.2
Fourth Quarter:
