- Mail a blank silhouette to each student, asking students and parents to create a self-portrait. Bring portrait to school on back-to-school night.

- Read a Johnny Appleseed book: The Story of Johnny Appleseed-Aliki, Johnny Appleseed-Kellogg, Johnny Appleseed-Lindbergh, The Seasons of Arnold's Apple Tree-Gibbons
- Each class chooses a different element to add to the Johnny Appleseed mural--leaves, apples, tree trucks, ground, vegetation, Johnny Appleseed, and sun/clouds---Create, Define, Collaborate

Bo Bear
