American Government Essential Skills for Level 12
One Semester Class:
Student will be able to:
1. Students understand what government is and what purpose it serves.
2. Describe the political 2 party system in the U.S. and the role of minor parties.
3. Students know the components and function of all three branches of government at the national and state level.
4. Describe the foundations of the American political system.
5. Students know the how U.S. foreign policy has been created historically and how it is created today.
6. Describe the relationship of a federal governmental system.
7. Students understand the how the federal bureaucracy has developed and what are its major components today.
8. Describe the role of the U.S. in the world today and how it interacts with other nations.
9. Students understand the roles, rights and responsibilities of being a citizen.
10. Describe the foundation of state and local governments in Brush, Morgan County and Colorado.
