Lesson Plan Exploring Native Americans Across the Curriculum Blast stereotypes with across-the-curriculum activities for students of all ages.
National Geographic Lesson Plan on Lewis and ClarkIn this lesson, students will write about several encounters between the expedition and various Native American groups from the viewpoint of an expedition member or one of the Indians. Students can see the large-format film Lewis and Clark: Great Journey West before or after the lesson.
Native American Webquest LessonDuring this Native American study students will explore various areas of the Indian culture from the past. Students will: compare several Native American tribes and tell how they are alike and different, analyze interactions between Indians and other early American inhabitants,read various legends and explain their symbolic meanings, and explore some Indian arts and crafts and identify the influences of nature and natural resources.
Exploring Explorers WebQuestStudent working as individuals or part of a team select an explorer from the resource list, complete an in-depth research component, and create a "chapter" to be included in their classroom reference book, Exploring Explorers. Students focus on the contributions make to the future by this explorer as they summarize why this explorer should be remembered.
