Spanish Essential Skills for Level I
First Quarter:
Student will be able to:
- spell words using the Spanish alphabet
- recite the Spanish alphabet
- accurately pronounce words using sounds that Spanish letters represent (70% or better accuracy)
- engage in basic conversation in three areas: meeting someone new, describing self and others, concerning classes in school
- use proper etiquette when engaged in conversation
- use articles, nouns, adjectives with 70% accuracy in gender and number agreement
- use the present tense verb ser with 70% accuracy
All of the above essential skills pertain to FL standard 1.2
- write simple sentences in Spanish using a guided format (FL standard 1.4)
- identify all Spanish speaking countries and their capital cities (FL standard 2)
