Writing Standard 3.3b - Speech
Use standard English usage in writing, including subject/verb agreement, agreement of pronoun and its antecedent, parallel structure, and correct modifiers. ES
Standard in Kid Friendly Language
In your speech you will use correct subject/verb agreement.
Example: Correct - The cars are red. Incorrect - The cars is red.
In your speech you will used correct pronoun/antecedent agreement.
Example: Correct - The student ate his or her lunch. Incorrect - The student ate their lunch.
In your speech you will use parallel structure in a series.
Example: Correct - On our trip we fished, rode horses, and swam in the lake. Incorrect - On our trip we fished, rode horses, and went swimming in the lake.
In your speech you will use correct modifiers.
Example: Correct - The boy did well on his test. Incorrect - The boy did good on his test.
