Writing Standard 2.2g - Speech
Incorporate material from a variety of appropriate sources. ES
Standard in Kid Friendly Language
Locate sources which provide evidence and support for the main points of the speech. Appropriate sources are reliable. They are written by authors who have a strong knowledge of the subject matter and may be considered experts in the field.

Instructional Strategies
We will look at a variety of materials that discuss how to research, take notes, create works cited entries, and create works cited pages. Students will be assigned at least two speeches which require research. Sample works cited pages and note cards will be available. A variety of note taking techniques will be explored so that each student may choose the type of note taking technique which works best for him/her.
We will also discuss and practice proper acknowledgment of sources within a speech. Students will listen to model speeches which incorporate sources and they will also be able to see written speeches which include outside sources.
