Preschool learners listen, respond to, and discuss a variety of literature including fairy tales, folk tales, legends and myths, rhymes and poems, fiction and non-fiction.

Instructional Strategies

  • Support the child’s ability to listen attentively and to share back what, specifically, has moved them or sparked their imagination.
  • Frequently read to children individually and in small groups, and engages the children in conversations about what they have read.
  • The classroom environment contains a wide variety of age- appropriate literature, both in the literacy center and in other areas of the classroom that are available at all times.
