RE09 5.a - Level 9

Use organizational features of printed text (for example, prefaces, afterwards, and appendices) to locate information.

Standard in Kid Friendly Language

The student will know how to use the different features of a printed book to find information that they need for an assignment or for personal use. This would include prefaces, afterwords, appendices, indices and table of contents.

Standard Unwrapped

KNOW Students will know how to use the different parts of a book to find information quickly and efficiently.

ABLE TO DO Students will be able to:

    Use a table of contents to find chapter information relevant to the information needed
    Use an index to quickly locate pages that are relevant to the information needed
    Use an annotated bibliography to find additional resources that are relevant to the information
         needed
    Select and use information, relevant to the information needed, from a preface and afterword
    Select and use information from appendices that is relevant to the information needed
