Projects and Activities

  1. Item One

Before listening to and following along the story, students are asked to brainstorm about modern superheroes and heroines. Then they are asked to make a list of at least six tasks a modern superhero or superheroine might accomplish to improve the world. Students will listen to Rex Warner retelling "The Labors of Hercules" while they follow along the reading in their text books (CD player used). While listening to the CD the teacher pauses and asks questions that assure that students understand what they are reading. Students' while reading task is to keep in mind and compare the tasks they just listed to Hercules' labors and to put down the tasks he is assigned. After having read and discussed the first five tasks students are asked to complete the attached while reading sheet.
