Instructional Strategies
- Item One
Teacher reads How I Became a Pirate? to students while students follow it, and the pictures in the book, along on the monitor hooked to an Elmo camera. Before reading the book students infer the meaning of the title based on the cover page. The focus of this lesson is to have students explore the advantages and disadvantages of being a pirate. This is a preparatory activity for the one-week long unit related to students' career search. (Students are going to research information on a job they are interested in and put it in writing).
Assessment Strategies
Students are assessed through class participation as well as through a written assignment based on the classroom activity. (See "Instructional Strategies").
