Reading Essential Skills for Level 2
First Quarter:
Students will be able to:
- Identify the main characters, setting, and plot or problem, and solution of a story. Reading Standard 1,3.01(1)(a)(ix), (6.b)
- Make predictions using picture clues, titles, and content. Reading Standard 4, 3.01(1)(b), (4.d)
- Decode words containing word families ack, ock, ate, at, ide, ame and suffix ed. Reading Standard 1, (1.g)
Second Quarter:
Students will be able to:
- Identify sequence of events in a story. Reading Standard 4, 3.01(1)(a)(ix), (1.e)
- Self monitor when reading. Reading Standard 1, 3.01(1)(e)(ii), (1.a)
- Decode words containing long and r-controlled vowels ear, eer, ar, arm, ark, our, er, ir, ur, or. Reading Standard 1, 3.01(1)(c)(i), (1.g)
Third Quarter:
Students will be able to:
- Identify the details in a story. Reading Standard 4, 3.01(1)(a)(x), (1.e)
- Compare and contrast. Reading Standard 3.01(1)(a)(vii), (1.g)
- Decode words containing dipthongs, pre-fixes, contractions, and compound words. Reading Standard 3.01(1)(c)(i), (1.g)
Fourth Quarter:
Students will be able to:
- Identify appropriate questions. Reading Standard 3.01(1)(a)(iii), (4.b)
- Alphabetize words to the second letter. Reading Standard (1.e.2)
- Identify main idea and supporting details of a passage. Reading Standard 3.01(1)(a)(x), (1.c)
