Essential Skills for PE K

First Quarter:

Student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate how to get into partners, groups and teams quickly
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the gym boundries and areas of the gym.
  • Know emergency line, bathroom passes, drink passes, crash zone line, half court, whiteboard,tornado drill location, fire drill location.
  • Understand classroom rules
  • Establish and maintains personal space
  • Travel safely in general space without bumping into others or falling
  • Start and stop on cue
  • Demonstrate locomotor skills: walk, run, jump hop, gallop, side slide
  • Demonstrate movement concepts of levels, tempo, pathway, directions

Second Quarter:

Student will be able to:

  • Understand and identify 3 throwing ques
    • Grab the apple out of the tree
    • Point to your target
    • Step in opposition
  • Explore different rhythms
  • Balance and manipulate a variety of objects on different body parts
  • Demonstrate catching skills to self of low medium and high using balloons
    • Watch objects into your body
    • "Give" with the objects and bring it into your body
  • Cooperate with peers in small and large groups

Third Quarter:

Student will be able to:

  • Safely use a jumprope within a given area
  • safely demonstrate basic rope turning techniques
    • Two handled side turn
    • One handle on each side, forward, overhead
  • Demonstrate basic jump and two other rope activities of their choice
  • Demonstrate good behavior by encouraging and helping others
  • Demonstrate tossing and catching with one bounce at a low, medium, and high level
  • Dribbling techniques in place and while moving threw traffic
  • Demonstrate hand-eye coordination by rolling, bounceing, throwing, and catching with a partner
  • Know the steps of tying a shoe
    • Loop Swoop and Pull

Fourth Quarter:

Student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate foot-eye coordination through a variety of striking activities
  • Demonstrate a basic hand-eye coordination with a variety of underhand and overhand striking activities
