Essential Skills for PE Level 3

First Quarter:

Student will be able to:

  • demonstrate moving in personal space.
    • understand the importance of a warm-up
  • demonstrate proper form when doing crunches, push-ups, squats, lunges.
  • Understand the importance of physical activity.
  • demonstrate how to get into partners, groups and teams quickly.
    • shoulder to shoulder, back to back, closest to you, boy/girl (opposite)
  • demonstrate knowledge of the gym boundries and areas of the gym.
    • Know emergency line, bathroom passes, drink passes, crash zone line, half court, whiteboard,tornado drill location, fire drill location.
  • Recite classroom rules.

Second Quarter:

Student will be able to:

  • Understand the perimeters of a volleyball court.
  • demonstrate proper form when serving, bumping and setting a volleyball
  • identify a defense and an offense game of football
  • Show correct grip when throwing a football
  • demonstrate proper hand positioning in catching a high medium and low pass.
  • identify 4 safety rules for the climbing wall.
  • demonstrate problem solving while climbing.

Third Quarter:

Student will be able to:

  • demonstrate 7 different jumping skills with a short jump rope.
  • understand the importance of a healthy heart.
  • understand 4 basic rules of basketball.
  • demonstrate proper form when dribbling, shooting and passing a basketball.
  • understand importance of lifetime activities.
  • demonstrate correct scoring in both horse shoes, blongo ball and bowling.

Fourth Quarter:

Student will be able to:

  • identify 4 rules for soccer.
  • demonstrate different ways to pass and dribble a soccer ball.
  • identify 4 rules for hockey.
  • demonstrate correct stick control. Shooting and passing using inside and outside of stick.
  • demonstrate correct grip on a golf club.
  • show correct golf swing form.
