Getting started
- Teacher's Permission Template for Harvested Internet Resources This form can be used to request permission to use resources from other sites.
Essential Skills
Standards
A complete list of standards will be provided for each level by subject based on those included in the Colorado Assessment Frameworks. An ES notation designates those standards that teachers in Brush have identified as Essential Skills based on the following criteria: leverage, endurance, readiness, and accountability.
THE TEXT OF THE CURRENT STANDARD
This is the heading for each standard's page.
Initially each standard will have the following sections:
- CONTENT STANDARD:
Original wording of the standard.
Colorado Model Content Standards
- STANDARD IN STUDENT FRIENDLY LANGUAGE:
Rewrite the standard in terms the student will understand.
- STANDARD UNWRAPPED: Steps to Unwrapping Standards | Unwrapping Form
There will be two sections here - KNOW and ABLE TO DO. Add or edit what you think students should know and be able to do to demonstrate mastery of this standard. This an ideal place to link to rubrics that teachers have created.
Make recommendations on specific strategies that you believe would help teachers working with students on this standard. A variety of sites provide sample lesson plans that can be used to spark ideas. A list of sites is available here.
Include here suggested assessment strategies appropriate to the standard.
Add resources you either use or would suggest that help teach or explain this standard. Feel free to upload and link any teacher created resources you would like to donate. Do not violate copyright rules, however.
- PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES:
Can you think of a project or an activity that would be ideal for this standard? Detail it here.
Curriculum Map
Brush Public Schools began the process of curriculum mapping in the fall of 2003. Teachers were asked to diary map simply telling what happens in their individual classroom each month. The next year teachers were asked assign standards to each of the skills. This was also the year teachers identified what assessments were used to determine proficiency and include the resources used in the classroom. The curriculum maps were to be seen as living documents that would be modified as necessary.
Each curriculum map has the following headings for each month:
- CONTENT AND ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS
- SKILLS
- ASSESSMENTS
- RESOURCES
- OPTIONAL
