Algebra II Essential Skills for Level 10
First Quarter:
Student will be able to:
Ratio and Proportion
- Define and use ratios, proportions and percent to solve life applicable problems and communicate the results in writing. Standard 6.1a (6.6)
- Use the Pythagorean theorem to solve problems in a variety of contexts and communicate the results in writing. Standard 4.2a (4.3)
- Find the perimeter, area, and volume of regular and irregular shapes and communicate the results in writing. Standard 4.2c (4.3)
Second Quarter:
Student will be able to:
Linear relationships
- Write equations of lines given a slope and a point or given two points. Standard 2.3a (2.7)
- Find equations of lines parallel and perpendicular to a given line. Standard 2.3a (2.7)
- Determine the meaning of slope and determine the representation of the x and y intercepts and communicate the results in writing. Standard 2.4a (2.6)
Right Triangle Trigonometry
- Solving right triangles using trigonometry and life applicable use of trigonometry and communicate the results in writing. Standard 4.4a (4.7)
Third Quarter:
Student will be able to:
Probability
- Use probability and odds in a variety of contexts and communicate the results in writing. Standard 3.5a (3.3)
- Statistics. Standard 3.4a (3.2)
- Use mean, median, mode, and range to analyze data and communicate the results in writing. Standard 3.4a (3.2)
- Plot data points and analyze data using line of best fit and communicate the results in writing. Standard 3.4a,b c (3.1)
Fourth Quarter:
Student will be able to:
Nonlinear relationships
- Evaluate parabolic life applicable situations and communicate the results in writing. Standard 2.1a (2.3)
Major Rules of Algebra
- Know and be able to use the major rules of Algebra in a variety of contexts and communicate the results in writing. Standard 2.1 - 2.5
