Know, use, describe, and estimate measures of length perimeter, capacity, weight, time, and temperature.

Students will be able to use a ruler to measure how long something is using inches and using centimeters.

KNOW Students will know the length of an inch and a centimeter.
ABLE TO DO Student will be able to use a ruler to measure a line segment in inches.
Student will be able to use a ruler to measure a line segment in centimeters.
Instructional Strategies
- Students will work in cooperative groups during some measuring activities.
- Students will be given several opportunities to practice recognizing inches and centimeters and measuring items.
- Homework given will provide additional practice.
Assessment Strategies
- Essential Skills Assessment given at the beginning of the year and at the end of the year.
- Everyday Mathematics unit 4 and 6 assessments
