Industrial Arts Essential Skills for Level 8

First Semester

Students will be able to:

  • Review the essential skills regarding shop safety and proper use of the shop tools that they were introduced to in sixth grade.
  • Pass a safety test and must be able to demonstrate the proper use of the power tools to the instructor prior to starting if any projects.
  • View three-dimensional drawings of various projects and identify top, bottom, side and elevations.
  • Produce a project from a pre-determined set of plans.
  • Master the finish work on the project such as stain and polyurethane. (example: multiple layers of finish, polyurethane three coats and sanding in between coats.)
