Content and Essential Skills


Design groups will need to design a park to be presented to the city council.

A detailed drawing and an actual prototype will need to be constructed for the presentation.

Groups will need to answer a list of questions some of which are: Cost of construction, handicap accessible?

Cost to maintain, Provisions for water shortage years, Insurance, Policing and etc.

Content and Essential Skills


Students will be divided into design groups to develop a prototype of a biosphere that will sustain life after an asteroid hits the earth and causes major damage and changes in our weather.

Students will be given the raw materials needed to build a rubber band powered car.

Students will have access to the tools in the wood shop to produce a rubber band race car.

4. Learn about alternate forms of energy, alternate forms of water supply, how to get food, farming.

5. Students will develop skills related to creating a new society, wants vs needs.


1. Simple machines, how to use.

2. Problem solving.

3. Students will use skills learned in Industrial Arts class when building cars


Assessment


Biospheres will be graded by teacher.

Individual grade for distance

Students are divided into race teams and are graded for overall team distance.

Students will work in the tech lab for the rest of the quarter.

Students will be required to produce 5 portfolios.

3. Catch the wave.

4. Sim City

5. Flight Simulator.
