High School Concert Choir Essential Skills
The essential skills for performing ensembles cannot be split into quarters. They are developed and evaluated each and every quarter.
Students will be able to:
- Play or sing an expanded repertoire that includes appropriate technical accuracy and sensitivity to balance and blend.
- Play or sing with responsiveness to the gestures of a conductor.
- Understand and demonstrate proper use of appropriate musical symbols and terminology.
- Demonstrate appropriate rehearsal and performance skills and behaviors.
- Understand and demonstrate proper stage presence.
- Participate in cultural activities in an appropriate manner.
- Use appropriate musical terminology in verbal and written critiques of musical performances.
- Play all major scales/Sing a major scale/major triad/minor triad.
- Understand the process of an audition as well as proper audition techniques and etiquette.
- Demonstrate proper bodily posture while playing an instrument or singing.
- Develop interpersonal skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication.
