- Explain the need for distribution and importance of resources to the French and Indian War, the Texas Annexation, the Mexican/American War and the Civil War.
Instructional Strategies
Students know the changes that occur in the meaning, use, location, distribution, and importance of resources.
- Create a "Come to the Colonies Poster to show the importance of imports and exports to the colonies.
- Discuss the French and Indian War and the need for control by either France or Great Britain for the North American continent.
- Discuss the need for more land for the U.S. when they acquired the land in the Texas Annexation and the Mexican Cession. The land was needed for resources and to spread the growth of cotton and slavery.
- Research the topic of cotton and its impact on both the Northern and Southern economies.
