  • Research the white settlers need for more land for cotton and slavery in Texas and how it led to the Texas Annexation.
  • Explain the Mexican/American War and color a map to show the land acquired through the Mexican Cession.
  • Discuss the Civil War and the need for the North to receive the cotton grown from the South, and how the South needed to sell their cotton to the North to keep the economy going.
