Assess students for listening comprehension skills using science materials.

Assess students for reading levels so students can be placed in appropriate science materials and science study/reading groups.

Teach a variety of science subjects such as land animals, plant life, human body, matter, machines, rocks, the sea, natural disasters, life cycles, clouds, stormy weather, magnets, skeletons, food chains, rain forests, solar system, electricity, ecology, energy, states of matter, motion, scientific method, viruses, bacteria, cells, heredity, etc.

Teach and discuss science subjects such as rocks, fossils, animals, birds, rivers, microscopic creatures and objects, insects, plant growth, rain forests, ocean life, human body, dinosaurs, etc.


  • STANDARD 2: Physical Science: Students know and understand common properties, forms, and changes in matter and energy. (Focus: Physics and Chemistry)
  • STANDARD 3: Life Science: Students know and understand the characteristics and structure of living things, the processes of life, and how living things interact with each other and their environment. (Focus: Biology--Anatomy, Physiology, Botany, Zoology, Ecology)
  • STANDARD 4: Earth and Space Science: Students know and understand the processes and interaction of Earth's systems and the structure and dynamics of Earth and other objects in space. (Focus: Geology, Meterology, Astronomy, Oceanography)

Students will be able to answer questions on skin, complete activities on fingerprints and evaporation, and construct a paper model of skin layers with pores, hair follicles, oil glands, heat sensors, etc.

Students answer questions on the heart, squeeze a tennis ball to understand the power the heart must have, use mirror to see blood vessel under tongue, watch pulse using thumb tack and matchstick, check pulse after doing a variety of activities, construct paper model of the heart, and color pathways of oxygen-rich blood and oxygen poor blood in body.
