Content Standard 11/12.1: The student will demonstrate/communicate an understanding of current issues relating to agriscience.

1-1 Present an extemporaneous and/or prepared public speech on an agricultural topic.

1-2 Write a research paper and/or prepare a display on an agricultural topic.

1-3 Collect and organize information from the Internet, satellite information systems, library databases, scientific journals, magazines, newspapers, and/or other current media.

1-4 Write a position paper on an agriscience issue.

1-5 Write a news article on an agricultural topic.

1-6 Present a Food For American Program.

1-7 Review Ag-Ed Today on a daily basis.


Content Standard 11/12.2: The student will gain practical experience in agriscience through laboratory and field work.

2-1 Analyze soil.

3-3 Understand the functions of the major body systems (circulatory, respiratory, nervous, lymphatic, etc.).

3-4 Determine nutrient requirements for beef, swine, sheep, and dairy.

3-5 Determine the sources and uses of nutrients.

3-6 Identify vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids, their sources and functions.

3-7 Develop a balanced ration.

3-8 Determine rations for different classes of livestock.

3-9 Identify feed additives and their functions.

3-10 Identify proper feed preparation techniques.

3-11 Understand the use of growth regulators.

3-12 Evaluate rations using the net energy method.

6-1 Utilize computerized data entry and analysis.

6-2 Utilize soil testing equipment.

6-3 Utilize water testing equipment.

6-5 Utilize artificial insemination equipment.

6-6 Utilize tissue analysis equipment.

6-7 Utilize feed analysis equipment.

6-8 Access information utilizing computerized media.

6-9 Interpret precision farming technology (satellite mapping).


Content Standard 10.12: The student will participate in the operation of the FFA Chapter.
