Agriculture II - AG II


Content Standard 10.1: The student will select an agricultural career of interest for further development and study.

1-1 Select a career interest.

1-2 Interview a resource person in this career.

1-3 Prepare a written report on a career interest.

1-4 Present an oral report on a career of interest.


Content Standard 10.2: The student will implement plans for improvement of the SAE program.

2-1 Revise your long term plan.

2-2 Complete a proficiency application.

2-3 Complete the Chapter FFA Degree application.

2-4 Complete a preliminary State FFA Degree application.

2-5 Understand secondary enterprises.


Content Standard 10.3: The student will demonstrate the use of computers.

3-1 Understand word processing.

3-2 Understand computer spreadsheets.

3-3 Understand computer databases.

3-4 Understand the use of on-line communication.


Content Standard 10.4: The student will demonstrate communication skills by selecting, planning, and leading a discussion on an agricultural topic.

4-1 Effectively lead a group discussion.

4-2 Participate in a POA committee.

4-3 Research a current agricultural topic.

4-4 Understand group dynamics.

4-5 Present a Food For America Program.

4-6 Participate in District /Area FFA Contests


Content Standard 10.5: The student will demonstrate skills in ag mechanics through small group work in project construction.

5.1 Plan and carry out a team project and identify individual member’s responsibilities.

5.2 Evaluate my own performance in the group.


Content Standard 10.6: The student will demonstrate proficiency in arc and oxyacetylene welding as evidenced by the completion of quality lap, butt and tee welds and cutting processes.

6-1 Identify welding processes.

6-2 Select electrodes.

6-3 Understand the characteristics of each gas in the oxyacetylene process.

6-4 Identify the function of oxyacetylene welding unit components.

6-5 Understand the fusion process.

6-6 Select amperage based upon the types of metal and electrode to be used.

6-7 Complete an outside corner bead without rod-oxyacetylene.

6-8 Complete a build up pad-arc.

6-9 Complete a butt weld-oxyacetylene and arc.

6-10 Complete a lap weld-oxyacetylene and arc.

6-11 Complete a tee weld-oxyacetylene and arc.

6-12 Cut with an oxyacetylene torch.

6-13 Cut with a plasma arc torch.

6-14 Cut with an abrasive saw, hydraulic shear, and bandsaw.


Content Standard 10.7: The student will demonstrate power tool safety practices.

7-1 Demonstrate proper operation techniques with power tools.

7-2 Understand safety rules.

7-3 Complete safety tests.

7-4 Understand safety procedures for all power tools.

7-5 Follow a cleanup schedule.


Content Standard 10.8: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the bases of livestock selection.

8-1 Select livestock to fit a production program.

8-2 Understand and interpret performance data.

8-3 Read and evaluate a pedigree.

8-4 Understand expected progeny differences and indexes.

8-5 Identify parts of animals.

8-6 Define livestock terms.


Content Standard 10.12: The student will participate in the operation of the FFA Chapter.

12-1 Participate in a POA Committee.

12-2 Attend FFA meetings.

12-3 Demonstrate 5 parliamentary procedure abilities.

12-4 Complete a proficiency application.

12-5 Complete the Chapter FFA Degree application.

12-6 Attend district leadership conference.

12-7 Attend State FFA Leadership Conference.

12-8 Participate in judging contests at the local level.

12-9 Participate in fundraising activities.

12-10 Participate in a least one community service activity.
