Ceramics Essential Skills for HS Level

First semester:

Student will be able to:

1. Communicate- students experiment with simple symbolic elements

2. Structure- Students demonstrate a basic understanding of the expressive range of the elements and principles as they apply to pottery.

3. Process- Students acquire a basic understanding of the ceramic construction methods.

4. Analyze- Students analyze a variety of forms to discover the underlying composition.

5. Synthesis- Students learn to combine basic forms to create complex forms.

6. Context- Students research and report on the historical/social context of a work of art.
