  • DAY 1: ART ROOM ORIENTATION: Art Room Rules, Assign Art Boxes, $12.00 Student Art Fee Paid at BMS Office, Pass out Sketchbooks to each student.

SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENTS: Teacher outlines lesson verbally, with blackboard demonstrations,guided practice, one step at a time, and examples of previous student work(both good & bad) diagrams or criteria expectations passed out.

-Days 1 & 2, Sketch book Pg.1: Design Personal Logo with #2 pencil and finish with colored pencil.

-Day 3: Pg. Shaded Shapes Worksheet with # 2 pencil.

-Day 4-5,Pg.3, Human Head Drawing with #2 pencil

-Day 5, 6,& 7: Pg. 4, Haunted House Drawing with #2 pencil.

-Day 8-9: Pg.5,Perspective Drawing (Hwy. to Mts., telephone poles and trees. Finish with colored pencil.

-Day 10-11: Canyon Drawing, lead & colored pencil.

-Day 13-14: Human Head Drawing & shading,with lead pencil.

-Day 15-16: Old House,contour Drawing & shading (lead pencil)

-Day 17-18: Gesture Scribble drawings (circular strokes) students take turns posing for each other.Divide sketch book pages into 4/ per/ pg.

-Day 19-20" Plastic canvas project(design and work on when other assignments are finished.

-Day 21: View and take notes on"Castle"(60min.)

-Day 22-24 Sketch a preliminary castle drawing lightly on 12 x 18 white construction paper. Finish with colored pencils.


Skills


Students learn and practice: Pencil sketching techniques. Shading techniques in Hatching, Cross-hatching, Blending & Stippling. Perspective techniques and proper vocabulary including: Horizon, Vanishing Point, Foreground, Middle ground, Background.

Plastic canvas project: Draw design,chose yarn colors, learn and practice stitchery skills, threading needle and knotting yarn.

Become familiar with vocabulary terms including the Elements of Art, Principles of Design, color wheel, schemes, concepts, types of paintings, in accordance with 6th Grade Visual Arts Standards and benchmarks.

Introduction to Handbuilding Video, 60 Min., By Stephen Jensen. View and take notes.

Daimyo (National Gallery of Art., 30 Min.)View and take notes.

Teacher instruction on scoring and slipping of joints when building pottery or sculpture projects.

Viewing of some examples of well done as well as poorly made pottery.

Read together and discuss the "Handbuilding Pottery" sequence of procedures.

Castle PBS Home Video Hosted By David Macauley. View and take notes.

Pencil sketch a castle drawing on 12 X 18 in. white construction paper and finish with colored pencils.
